Average students take geometry in the 10th grade. Accelerated students generally take it in 9th grade.
There are some programs which allow students to take algebra in the 7th grade and geometry in 8th.

I don't know what "manipulative" means, but with the software at this site, you can make geometric shapes by pushing regular polygons around.

2) Astronomer use it to study Dark matter in the Galaxy and make gravitational lens to study the far reaches of the Universe
3) it's the basis for topology (mathematics of distortion)
4) it explains thing like Mazes and certain mapping problems
5 ) It the basis of things like the Space -time warp in science- fiction
6) might the able to explain what go on in a black hole- may be
7) explain why certain microbes are certain shapes
8) Artist use it to make anamorphosis and it helpful to look at things differently

I would suggest that you find out the text that is in use at your local high school. You can probably get a copy at your local library. Also, check similar books at your library and pick another one that you like. Then see if you can buy them somewhere online. Or just buy the school text and visit you library occasionally.
