sum of the roots:
x+x'=-b/a=-(-14/4)=14/4=7/2

I believe in the first problem it is actually
1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64

When you are looking for predictable patters first see if all the numbers are increasing by a particular amount every time. Obviously these numbers do not fit this, so you next look to see if they all have something in common (are they all squares, all prime numbers, all odd numbers, etc).

15 adds the perfect square numbers, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, etc
19 adds consecutive odd numbers, 3,5,7,9,...
21 triples the number then subtracts 1: 1x3 =3, -1=2
2x3 = 6, -1 = 5
etc
25 is perfect square numbers with their digits switched, starting at 81 and going backward
27you double each number then reverse the digits

I'll do a few, you can figure the rest out from there...

1. This one is just the reciprocal (flip the fraction):
10/7 = y/x

2. This makes the numerators of each side into a proportion, so it'd be equal to a proportion of the denominators:
6/24 = x/y

3. x = 3, y = 9, so (3 + x)/x =
(3+3)/3 = 6/3


4. x = 5, y = 11, so (x+y)/y =
(5 + 11)/ 11 = 16/11

5. True (reciprocals)

6. False, should be (x/t) on the right side

7. True

8. True, x = 5, y = 8, so (x + y)/y =
(5 + 8)/8 = 13/8

Set up 9-12 as proportions and solve for x
