Calculus 3

Andrew Said:

which would look better for colleges, finishing calculus 3 or taking an engineering class?

We Answered:

Either one would be fine. Both show initiative and a strong desire to learn. If one gets you college credit by testing, or something, take that one.

Ted Said:

Is it hard to understand differential equations before calculus 3?

We Answered:

Beginner DE is a lot of applying formulas in order to solve DE problems. It's a lot like Calc I, but with more than one variable. You don't need Calc 3 for DE. I took and passed DE before taking Calc 3.

Erin Said:

calculus 3?

We Answered:

Note : my partial derivative symbol will use wings{ }. You need to compute df/dt= {df/dx} dx/dt + {df/dy} dy/dt + {df/dz} dz/dt.
{df/dx} = 2x - z + yz, dx/dt = 1, {df/dy} = xz, dy/dt = 2t, {df/dz} = -x + xy, dz/dt = 3t^2.When x=1,y=1,z=1 means t=1 . df/dt = (2)(1) +(1)(2)+(0)(3) = 4

Lonnie Said:

Is multivariate calculus also, referred to as calculus 3?

We Answered:

Generally, yes, multivariable is calculus 3.

And for the second question, yes, differential equations is generally taken after calc 3 (with some exceptions...I didn't see that the material of calc 3 was really needed).

Stephen Said:

Calculus 3?

We Answered:

Diameter = sqrt([2-4)^2+(1-3)^2+(4-10)^2)
=sqrt[4+4+36]= sqrt(44)
radius = sqrt(44)/2 = sqrt(4 x 11)/2 = sqrt(11)
center = (3,2,7) = ((x1+x2)/2,(y1+y2) /2,(z1+z2)/2)
equation :(x-3)^2+(y-2)^2+(z-7)^2= 11

Wanda Said:

How can i teach myself calculus 3?

We Answered:

Well if the study books aren't helping, then it is painfully obvious you cannot teach yourself Calculus 3. I personally hate the thought of ever trying to learn Calc or Trig, but that's me. I'm more of a creative (art & languages) person than a logic (math & science) person.

Perhaps you could look for a calculus tutor in a community college or on CraigsList.com?

Jessica Said:

Is a 3 course calculus sequence the same from school to school?

We Answered:

I took the AP Calculus AB and BC at my high school and my college class's Calculus 3 (Math 263) started right where my BC class left off at, so in my case, yes.
